For the adventurous, the Pumicestone Passage is a wonderful and scenic area worthy of exploration. Its crystal clear waters are home to dolphins, and at times, dugongs and sea turtles. Shorebirds also frequent the area, some species are migratory while others are native and resident at all times.

North Street Maker’s Market is located within easy walking distance of the park. Here, you can view items made with care and love by local artisans.

Australia Zoo, created by Steve Irwin, is located less than 20km from Caloundra. The zoo offers interactive experience and houses over 1200 animals within the large facility. To view marine species, go to Sea Life Sunshine Coast, also a short drive. This aquarium also provides opportunities for you to interact with the animals and displays a range of sea life which includes a seal performance.

For a fun-filled family day out try a visit to Aussie World, a theme park with rides to suit everyone’s taste and an on-site cafe for snacks or lunch.

Places to eat

The park offers BBQ facilities and a large camp kitchen for preparing meals. If you decide to eat out, Caloundra has numerous cafes, taverns and restaurants offering a diverse range of menu options. Several cafes serve breakfast, the Greenhouse Cafe offers organic and healthy choices, while Kings Beach Bar, serves a full cooked breakfast with beachfront views.

Caloundra also boasts numerous Taverns, Pubs and Restaurants for dining options to suit every taste and budget. In addition to traditional options of steak, burgers, and fish and chips, Caloundra has a range of exotic restaurants offering Thai, Japanese, Indian and Chinese cuisine.
