Keeping the Family Happy on a Caravanning Holiday

By January 22, 2019 May 8th, 2019 No Comments

Caravanning is one of the greatest holidays you can go on as a family. Seeing some of Australia’s pristine national parks and other unique sights from the comfort of your own caravan is sure to be a trip that you and your family will remember for a long time.

Spending all your time in such close proximity, however, can sometimes be frustrating. Whether you’re a family with kids or a pair of grey nomads, it’s important to consider how you and your loved ones can make your trip as harmonious as possible. Here are a 3 travel tips on keeping the family happy during your caravanning adventure.

Make opportunities for alone time

Spending all your day together can be draining, so make sure to plan a little alone time to recharge and make your time together as a family even more special. This can include going for a walk on your own or making your own way through a destination. Even just sitting in different parts of the caravan for an hour reading or doing your own thing can be a great way to take a break and keep the family dynamic peaceful.

Get everyone involved in planning the holiday

For families with older children and teenagers, making sure that everyone gets to contribute to what your holiday will look like can be a fantastic way to make everyone enthusiastic and engaged in the trip. Sometimes children can feel shut out of the decision-making process in terms of destinations and activities and this leads them to switch off from a holiday. Asking them for their opinion, even on just a few days in the itinerary, will make sure they feel like the holiday is theirs.

Communicate

With any family or couple, you might unwittingly do things that annoy each other. Rather than letting annoyances and frustrations stay bottled up, make sure your family knows that it is okay to talk about them. Communicating issues in a respectful and constructive manner before they blow up into arguments will make sure that your trip is as harmonious as possible and will even help your family in the long term once the holiday is over.
